Cooking Weight to Volume Converter

Convert between weight (grams) and volume (cups, tablespoons, ml) for common cooking ingredients.

How We Calculate This

This converter uses ingredient-specific density data to convert between weight and volume. Each ingredient has a different density, so the conversion factor varies.

The Formula

  • Volume (ml) = Weight (g) / Density (g/ml)
  • Weight (g) = Volume (ml) x Density (g/ml)
  • Cups = Volume (ml) / 240
  • Tablespoons = Volume (ml) / 15

Density Examples

  • Water: 1.00 g/ml
  • Flour: 0.52 g/ml
  • Sugar: 0.83 g/ml
  • Honey: 1.42 g/ml
  • Butter: 0.95 g/ml
