Bake Sale Quantity Planner
Calculate how many baked items you need for a bake sale based on expected visitors, duration and variety.
How We Calculate This
This planner estimates total bake sale quantities from your expected visitor numbers, how long the sale runs and your item variety.
How we calculate
- Apply a buy rate based on venue type (50-80% of visitors buy)
- Multiply by average items per buyer (increases with more variety)
- Divide evenly across your item types
- Add a stock buffer for popular items (default 15%, adjustable in Advanced Options)
- Estimate first-hour demand — a shorter sale concentrates more sales into the opening hour, so the busiest-hour share rises as Hours Open falls
Practical equivalents
We also show equivalent quantities in practical baking terms — how many cupcake batches, cake slices or traybake portions you need per item type, using your own slices-per-cake and portions-per-traybake settings.
The buy rates, items-per-buyer growth, first-hour share and suggested prices are typical planning estimates (rules of thumb in line with charity bake-sale guides such as the NSPCC and RSPCA), not guaranteed figures. Treat the results as a starting point and adjust for your audience and past experience.
